Its building has been declared National Monument. From 1868, it housed the Royal Academy of Sciences and from 1874, it has housed the museum.
The visit provides a panorama of sciences in Cuba. Its library treasures about 100 000 volumes. The museum also houses a reproduction of a pharmacy of the 19th century.
In the year 1936, Albert Einstein visited this museum.
