The parish church of the holy spirit of Sancti Spiritus is a colonial religious building of significant architectural values. This church, in the Roman baroque style, is one of the most important buildings in the historic center of the city and is the second oldest in Cuba. Its construction was begun in 1620 and completed in 1680. Previously, a rude church made of wood had stood on the site.
