It is in the Lobby Hall of the Capitol Hill of Havana, it stands on a pedestal 8.2 feet (2.5 meters) high. The work of Italian sculptor Angelo Zanelli, the Statue of the Republic is considered the third tallest statue in the world inside a building. It is 57.55 feet (17.54 meters) high, and it is said that the sculptor fashioned it after Palas Athena, the Greek Goddess of Wisdom. It was brought from Italy in three parts and put in place just three days before the Capitol was inaugurated.
