The waters of two rivers Cauto and Contramaestre joined together here in Granma Province. This site is revered by all Cubans, because it was the place where Jose Marti National Hero died fighting on May 19, 1895.

Each year, the inhabitants celebrate memorial ceremonies at a monument erected to perpetuate the sad event of the Apostol`s fall.
