This noble house, built by Gabriel Beltran de Santa Cruz's parents, the first San Juan de Jaruco Count, later belonged to the descendants of the distinguished Cardenas de Monte Hermoso Marquis.
During the passage of time it was lived by excellent families and personalities of the Havana society as: Pedro Beltran of Santa Cruz, Count of San Juan de Jaruco, Josefa Catherine de Santa Cruz, Cardinal sister of the Marquise of of Monte Hermoso; the Family of the Marquess of Peñalver House.
The most illustrious visitors to the city gathered in this house including Baron Alejandro de Humboldt, the eminent German scientist, three French princes, the Beaujolais Count and the Montpensier and Orleans Dukes. The Orleans Duke later became Philip I of France. |
